Kijjawemi S.S. Started in a humble way in 1983 as a result of shared ideas from kijjabwemi church congregation and the surrounding Anglican community. It was suggested and agreed upon to have a school on the church land in order to overcome the growing need for secondary school education by the products of kijjabwemi primary school and the surrounding primary schools. The school came in handy for the peri-urban community’s children whose parent’s incomes were rather meager. The school became government aided in 1984 and gradually went through the normal metamorphosis in physical infrastructure, enrollment and overall management. All its classes then, were put up by funds collected from parents.
The board of governors assisted by the parents and teachers’ association help in the running the sc hool. They do this by careful planning and e nsuring optimal utilization of all the available resources to achieve a holistic education.

School management the top management of the school is the board of governors (BOG) appointed by the government and parents and teachers’ association (PTA) executive elected by the parents. The board of governors assisted by the parents and teachers’ association help in the running the school. They do this by careful planning and ensuring optimal utilization of all the available resources to achieve a holistic education.
The school follows the national educational curriculum with 19 core subjects taught at both A and O levels. There are many co-curricular activities done like games and sports, clubs and associations.
The school has performed fairly especially in the national examinations UNEB. It is among the top best five USE Schools in greater Masaka district. Its recent achievements are reflected in the reduction of ungraded and failures at UCE. It managed to send on government sponsorship (from the 2015 UACE exams. The best 2 science students scored each 18 in PEM/ICT/GP combination.
